Film Planning

Possible film titles

  • The man
  • RUN
  • Run home
  • Masked Anonymous
  • Man in the woods

Actors

My film partner and I are working out who to use in our production, we think a girl around the age of 15 will be perfect to play the victim. There are a few good actors we have asked and they are more than happy to be a part of it but we need to find out who will be the best by auditioning them. The killer will be masked and has no lines so this will be a simple part to play we just need a male who is tall.

Location / setting

  • Loughton Epping forest (back of my house)
  • My house
  • My basement
  • 4 o’clock gloomy but not dark.
  • Preferably cloudy
  • Pitch black outside
  • Old basement

I went to the forest behind my house to find some good settings for the film, i took some photos of good spots in the forest, i realised with the right lighting, camera work and editing I can make it very scary also buy adding synchronous sounds and some non-diegetic sound. These photos were taken in the morning; if i was to come here at about 4 o’clock it would look completely different. I’m going to go back there at this time to see the difference.

I also took some photos of the old electrics room in my basement and its actually terrifying. it would be perfect for the film and definitely matches the mise-en-scene for a horror film. It looks like something you would see in a typical modern horror film like paranormal activity; this is why i don’t like to go down there.

I also photographed my living room because some shots will be filmed in there. there is a huge contrast between the living room and the basement. The living rooms nice and modern and the basement where the killer will be hiding is the complete opposite.

After a lot of thinking i have figured out an opening that should work very well. This is the opening of my movie in a paragraph. RUN or RUN HOME will be a good name for the film because of the opening and because the title is catchy and suits the horror genre. The film fits the sub genre of a slasher horror film such as scream. i have looked into this subgenre and have posed information about it on my genre post. the setting and actors fit the sub genre perfectly because it is set in a nice suburban home, it will include the conventional  'first girl' who is stereotypically a blonde teenaged girl.It is also going to include a mad serial killer using a kinfe. These horror films are typically american and filmed in the USA so creating a British version will be interesting and origional.

RUN

Panning shots of the forest (names of actors and movie directors), it’s getting dark and the forest is looking unsafe and gloomy, sound effects will be added to exaggerate the creepiness of this forest and to make it feel unsafe. A teenaged girl is jogging through the forest in her running clothes. She runs down her normal route but she comes across what seems like a crime scene, she sees dozens of signs on every tree trunk in this section of the forest saying “Warning public safety notice”. This creeps her out and obviously she decides to run straight back home (shot of the back door locked shut). Her family are out for the night leaving her by her own. She feels unsafe and a bit confused about the signs in the forest but she does not think much of it. While she’s watching TV there is a power cut and the TV goes Static. She starts to panic a bit. She goes to the kitchen to grab a torch and makes her way down to the basement. (shot of the back door open) where the main power switch is while she’s looking at the power trying to fix it there will be a shot of a killer in a mask with a weapon in the back ground. She turns around shines the torch on the killer she screams, close up of the killer holding a large knife. It cuts off and the screen will then go black and Display the words in a large bold font RUN HOME (the film’s title).
