Creating these story boards have helped me with my organization and has put each shot down on paper rather then in my head, these story boards will be used by me and the actors in the movie so we are all organized and so that we know exactly what we are doing, this acts like a visual screenplay. Each frame contains rough sketches and notes, as you can see I haven't put too much detail in but I have made it clear to understand.
Here are some photographs of the scenery while we practiced filming. In the photograph below you can see myself and Maddie, who's is playing amy, setting up the camera. in the background you can see the stretch of forest with the police tape and yellow posters dotted around on trees, the setting looked great and looked like a genuine crime scene
For the film brief I produced a storyboard of each step that i would carry out so I knew exactly where to film and what to film. This type of layout made the day productive as i was able to follow out each part without confusion. This planning is helpful for when I make the last draft of the film brief as this is practise so I know whats to come and what I can improve on. I have uploaded the videos on here that where produced so it first starts in a forest and ends in her home. The treatment here helps as it identifies the whole story line so I can adapt the story from there. On the day I changed some of the ideas as when actually filming new ideas where formed so this is helpful for the real production as I can go exactly by the new treatment and create a new storyboard and look at the improvements I need to make.
Forest
There was tape saying police line do not cross which emphasises to the audience and makes them aware of the scene ahead. The idea of Amy wearing headphones indicates how she cannot hear the sirens when running up to the police scene and the signs, which makes it more intense. Also I took pictures of the layout that is taken place so below you can see there are warning signs as well as the tape. The atmosphere as well creates the horror scene as its very gloomy and she's by herself, so the weather was really important here but also the lighting so I made sure it wasn't too dark as then the pictures and the the actually filming won't be clear enough , so here I have figured out an improvement as i'm going to use a light above the camera.
Camera shots
When carry out this film brief, it contains different types of camera shots and from different angles including all the rules. When carrying out the task i was able when looking back on it pick out where the camera angles in some places didn't match when editing.
Sound
There will be no dialogue in this film brief as its the opening scene its more about the scenery and giving the audience an idea about what's ahead. There will be non-diegetic sound such as; sirens, footsteps, intense music (horror). The sound here is important so for the sirens, Amy has her headphones in so she cannot hear them which ands the the intensity as they we're a sort of warning in the forest for her not to go ahead. The non-diegetic music is important as when the serial killer approaches her it makes the audience aware that something bad is about to happen, this also engages the audience and puts them on edge as they are waiting.
The non-diegetic music will be slow, and calm when she's running through the forest but this slowly changes to a more faster paced sound, which will match the editing of the film.
Why is the opening of this important
The opening scene is very important especially for this type of horror film as it gives the audience as story outline of what the films about. It sets the scene so if he audience aren't engaged within those first few minutes then they will lose interest.
I have found a fantastic website called premiumbeat.com which contains a huge variety of music and sound effects that I can put in my film. everything on premiumbeat.com is royalty free so i can download it and include it in my film opening. out of the hundreds of beats I found a few that sounded really good and sounded like the kind of opening music that I imagined.
E.g.
No survivors- this would match very well with the visuals of the forest and the branches. its an eerie rumble and windy sounding music that would be perfect for the opening of a horror film, it sounds very uneasy and is typically creepy.
earth, wind and power- these are sound effects that would match the forest very well, the sounds are combined with instrumental sounds aswell, they are low and dark sounding.
calm winds- this is simply a wind sound effect, the sound would make the forest seem cold and empty.
suspicious behavior- this instrumental will be perfect for when the killer is sneaking into the house in the background, or when the killer is creeping up on Amy. the music builds up suspense.

listening to this sound and music has made me notice how effective it can be for a film opening, sound and music is very powerful the sounds exaggerate everything. good sound is very important for a horror film because it can create suspense, make the audience jump and can create an atmosphere. the surrounding becomes more understandable. I have carefully watched and analysed a selection of horror openings such as hush and the ring and i realised that they use a lot of added sound because of how powerful it is. with out the sounds horror films would not have the same effects that they do.
Here is a collection of fonts that I would like to use for the film opening, each font I chose for this collage really caught my eye and jumped out at me, which is exactly the purpose that I want the film title to serve. the film title acts as the films signature and symbolizes the film. I think every design here fits the horror genre, some better then overs. the fonts I made larger are the fonts that I prefer and the smaller ones are ones I least prefer. the largest one in the center of the collage is the design that I wish to use because it seems the boldest and clearest. it almost looks dangerous and the word run seems to really suit the design. The film title will appear at the end of the film opening in a sudden, striking way.
